During the 18th century Exmouth became renowned as a destination for wealthy visitors attracted by the views and medicinal salt waters.

Today, Exmouth truly represents the British seaside at its best, with two miles of golden sandy beach for building sandcastles, rock pools to hunt for elusive crabs and sparkling sea in which to paddle, swim, windsurf, and water ski.

Exmouth’s promenade has plenty of family friendly attractions including swing boats, a miniature railway and crazy golf, and there are several cafes and pubs along the seafront.

The town is also well known for its beautiful flower displays and has won a number of Britain in Bloom competitions in past years. The Strand Piazza and Manor Gardens are relaxing places to sit and enjoy peace and quiet.

Exmouth is the Western Gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, a fantastic journey through 185 million years of the Earth's geology, which begins here at the five metre futuristic cone of the "geoneedle" at Orcombe Point.

One of Exmouth's most charming buildings is the National Trust’s ‘A La Ronde’, a unique 16-sided house on the outskirts of town with extraordinary decoration including ornate feather friezes and a beautiful shell encrusted gallery.

The town centre shops are within a short walking distance of Exmouth’s seafront, with an award winning colourful indoor market selling a wide selection of goods from fresh local produce to crafts and gift ideas.
